Antique 19th Century (or possibly early 20th century) Chinese Folding Fan
    Hand Painted Silk
    Lacquered sticks
    Hunting Scene
This antique hand painted fan depicts a hunting scene. Riders on horseback carry bows and arrows; others on foot carry spears or lances. Deer and a wild boar appear to be the prey. The sticks are elaborately painted as well.
The fan is 12" long when folded closed. It is approximately 20.5" wide when opened fully.
Colors are still vivid. Sticks are in very good condition with no damage. The silk is starting to deteriorate in a few areas due to its age, creating small holes or rips -- this can be seen in photos #14-#18. The left side of the fan has a 1" band of rust-colored discoloration (photo #13). There is some age-related speckling here and there on the silk as well.
