    Description

Antique Wooden Canteen “cheese box” style/Revolutionary War
This listing is of one antique wooden canteen.
I believe this to be considered a “cheese box” Revolutionary War style canteen.
However, I am not an expert. It is my intent to be transparent and as accurate in my description as possible.
When researching and comparing to other primitive antique canteens, it appears this is made in the cheese box style (one bent wood strip surrounds the circumference of canteen). Others I have seen like this refer to Revolutionary War era. Based on tack/nails, one leather strap loop, and wood this does not appear to be a reproduction.
It is also my understanding that this was in my grandmother's antique shop. She was a passionate and well-respected dealer in the 40's to 70's (Maine).
It is in good condition without a strap.
One worn leather strap loop is still evident.
    This canteen measures:
approximately 6 ½ inches in diameter
approximately 2 ½ inches in depth
    Original wood and tack/nails
I am happy to answer questions and to provide additional photos upon request.
Note: Although my listings state "no returns", I will always honor a return if my descriptions are not accurate. I promise to work with you.
