Vintage Chinese Fan Carved Shell Dragon Cloud Black Lacquer Signed Wall Hanging
Colorful and Rare Find
Grandparents purchased in Hong Kong quite a while ago, not sure on dates maybe 1950-1960's.   It is a beautiful black lacquer piece, with carved and layered shell work that forms dragons in the clouds. The dragons are detailed and cut well, they have scales, jagged tails and claws.
The handle is wooden and it does not fold. There are red tassels with gold bindings on the bottom. There are some missing or broken shells, but they are difficult to see. I enlarged to see scratch but like said, difficult to see unless up close and personal... The dragon on the right appears to be missing part of his whiskers which if not told, most likely wouldn't notice. It measures 24” wide and 14.5” high,  It is signed on the upper left side.  The back top has indented holes that do not go all the way through, from hanging at one point.  This is a very rare piece
