    Description

White Canvas Spatterdashes with Peaked Rear
Spatterdashes were a popular piece of military and civilian sporting wear during the late 1700's and early 1800's. A myriad of styles were worn. In the late 1700's, spatterdashes having a peak at the rear (sometimes called low gaiters) were often worn over stockings to prevent mud and dirt from entering the soldier or sportsman's shoe while on the march or on the hunt.
The spatterdashes (low gaiters) offered for sale here provide an excellent foundation for many historical impressions. They are made of durable white canvas. The pieces come with white plastic buttons that can easily be replaced with proper metal ones if they are to be used with a historical uniform. The foot loops are of elasticized material appropriate for military impressions of the mid-late 1800s, but can be easily removed or replaced if desired.
